Williamsburg Banker Confident Vintage Shirt Cancels Out Goldman Sachs
Investment Manager's Vintage Purchase Part of Larger Strategy to Seem Less Soulless; Idaho Falls Native has began quoting Biggie Smalls
WILLIAMSBURG — Marcus Chen, an investment manager at Goldman Sachs has perfected the art of leaving his $7200 a month rental loft at precisely 8:00 AM, each weekday, a departure time that he believes distinguishes him from “Soulless Upper West Side finance types.”
“The guys who leave at 7:30 AM in FiDi, those are the real finance bros,” Chen explained, adjusting his imported $400 Japanese selvage denim before heading to his derivatives desk.
Chen’s morning routine also includes neglecting the signature finance fleece vest, opting instead for a humble collared shirt from 1958 he bought at a Dumbo vintage store for $185.
“It’s about distinguishing that I’m not like them,” Chen said through his brand new pair of Mascot Glasses. On the L Train, the Idaho Falls native offered up his seat for a one legged five year old before commenting, “As, Biggie said, Spread love, it’s the Brooklyn way”
Reached for comment via Ouja board, Biggie Smalls responded, “I’m glad I got killed before the first Union Market opened.”
